Site Readiness

Before installation can begin, there are a few action items that must be taken care of.

We ensure a smooth implementation and installation process along the way. This guide will outline the site requirements, training, and a timeline to go live. Please note that Bigeye POS does not do cabling or electrical services. The cost of cabling/electrical services is not part of your quote. We will fully configure your system before your go-live date. Please note this process typically takes about two weeks from start to finish.

Internet Connectivity Requirements

  • The internet requirements for the Revel POS installation are as follows:
A broadband internet connection is required before installing your system.
  • Proper internet connectivity equipment must be purchased and installed ahead of your installation.
  • Cabling must be run from your internet connection point to the different terminals, printers, and access points.

Cabling and Power

Before installation, your establishment must be cabled to support the terminals, iPads, printers, and access points. We recommend that the following devices be connected via ethernet only:

  • Terminal, iPad, & Printer setups (server, bar, cashier stations)
  • Standalone Printers (both receipt printers and kitchen printers)
  • Kitchen Display Screens
  • Access Points (in the ceiling)
  • Kiosks
  • Digital Menu Boards

SMALL THINGS MAKE A HUGE DIFFERENCE

We like to use CAT 6 cable in our current environment. Make sure you use cables that are rated 100mbs or higher.

Always run a home run. – This is a single CAT 6 cable from the internet modem to each hardware location. Terminal drops need to be RJ45 FEMALE to the T568B wiring scheme. Please have your cables labeled to help with troubleshooting. The home run should be terminated into a patch panel or Demarc for organization and labeling purposes. If you have to alter the cabling make sure you have home runs to all terminals, iPads, access points, and Kitchen Display System. Please have your electrician test the cable before he or she leaves. Bad cabling will result in system instability.

For PCI compliance, the network needs to be isolated. Only your Revel POS system should be connected to the Revel Network. Please focus on creating a good backbone for your POS.

Power

  • Power needs to be available by each terminal, Printer, and Kitchen Display System.
  • It is nice to have your POS and peripherals on a separate circuit than your main freezer, Frederator, Large appliances, etc. This creates instability.
  • In some applications, the Access Points will need Power, and, in some instances, a POE switch is installed. In this case, you will not need Power for the Acess Points to function.

Construction

Bigeye POS technicians will construct and install as much as we can.

Ceilings – If your ceilings are 50 feet or higher, we will contract that part of the job out at additional costs.

Counter Tops – If you request for us to drill into a countertop, we will. However, we do not drill into Granite, Quartz, or similar materials.

Wall Mounting – We will handle all wall mounting for you as long as you mark the spot before installation. We physically perform the entire installation process onsite if you opted for onsite installation. For virtual installations, we will provide best practices for mounting and staging your peripherals.

Any additional construction may be sub-contracted if needed. We will consult you as we progress. Anything is possible.
