The Switch from Digital Dining to Revel Systems POS
– A bit of history
The Lemon Grass & Bistro Elephant Steakhouse have been committed to bringing innovative, fresh, and delectable Pacific Rim Thai food to our dedicated clientele for over 20 years!
First established in 1990 as The Authentic Thai Restaurant of Syracuse in Mattydale, we moved to Armory Square in downtown Syracuse four years later, changing our name to Lemon Grass. We have built a reputation as one of the best restaurants in the Central New York Region, winning Northeastern awards for food and international awards for our wine list. From our fresh spring rolls to our mouth watering curries and innovative desserts, the tongue becomes a palate and the dining experience becomes a memory.
Issues With Their Old System
At the end of 2017 they decided to look for alternative POS solutions as their system needed to be updated. At first, the update was just software however they were informed they needed new hardware also. This was quickly becoming a very costly task.
Being a Windows based legacy system they were unable to check reports remotely. So the owners couldn’t monitor the daily sales unless they called in or checked the following day.
They reached out to their bank, Pathfinder and their representative Anthony Buckalew recommended they talk with Priority Payment Systems Gulf Coast as we are a direct partner. It’s here where the relationship began.
The Path to Success
After our demo and a few conversations with the management Lemongrass decided to proceed with Revel. The driving factor was their relationship with their bank, Pathfinder, that we’re partnered with. They felt our ability to customize the build to their specifications while providing them with in depth training on how to manage their database.
They reviewed many systems that offered support but not as direct as Priority Gulf Coast offers. One-on-one dedication has been our main selling point since we partnered with Revel Systems.
With our guidance and training we have helped Lemongrass increase their revenue streams, customer visibility and overall smooth operations at the restaurant.
Cloud POS vs. Legacy
Hesitation before changing to a new system is common, especially since Revel has a monthly fee while most Window’s Based POS’s do not. Lemongrass felt that paying for a system and owning it would make more sense with switching. After we installed Revel though they quickly saw the benefit of going cloud based.
Since Revel was monthly fee based system, the owners were hesitant to change at first. They would rather pay all and own the system. Now, they see the ease of the system and see the possibility to achieve higher revenue by creatively using the system –creating special menus, ability to change the pricing freely from our own office. I think this really helps the servers to sell. Also, it is faster process for them to put in orders, meaning they can handle higher volume if needed.
